CRUSHING AND TEN PERCENT FINE VALUE APPARTUS AS PER IS: 2386 (IV)

The Aggregate Crushing value gives a relative measure resistance of an aggregate to crushing under a gradually applied compressive load, with aggregate of aggregate crushing value 30 or higher the result may by anomalous and in such case ten percent fine value should be determined.

Aggregate crushing test is made on aggregate passing 12.5mm and retained in 10mm IS: sieve as a standard. Other size upto 25mm can also be used if required.

CRUSHING STRENGTH FOR ROCK

Crushing strength when aggregate are not available can be conducted with Compression testing machine of 50 tonnes capacity having one of the platens of machine spherically seated of not more than 2.5cm radius to measure directly stress in KG/SQUARE CM at ultimate failure of rock under a slowly increasing compressive load.

3. Sieve 12.5mm,10mm, 2.36mm

4. Balance

5. Tamping rod 16mm dia. X60cm long

For Aggregate smaller than 10mm 7.5cm dia. cylinder for crushing value is used. Aggregate crushing value apparatus Steel cylinder 75mm dia., plunger and steel base plate.
