The principal of los angles abrasion test is to find the percentage wear due to the relative rubbing action between the aggregate and steel balls used as abrasive charge, pounding action of these balls also exits while conducting the test.

Los angles are very commonly used to evaluate the quality of road aggregate, especially the hardness of stones. Los angeles abrasion test is very widely used to assess the hardness of aggregate used in pavement construction.

Description

TSSCO TSSAL302 Digital Los Angeles Abrasion testing machine as per IS: 2386 (IV), ASTM C 131, AASHO T96 :

1. It consist of hollow steel cylinder, having an inside diameter of 700 mm and inside length of 500 mm.

2. The cylinder mounted on a sturdy frame on ball bearings.

3. The opening shall be closed dust tight with a removable cover bolted in place.

4. A detachable shelf which extends through the drums catches the abrasive charge and does not allow to fall in the cover.

5. The drum is rotated at a speed of 30 – 33 r.p.m. by an electric motor make Crompton 440 V, three phase, 50 HZ, 1 H.P. through a heavy duty reduction gear box. Also fitted with Counter and push button starter.

1. SIEVE 1.70 MM

SPARE :

1. Abrasive charge 48mm dia. of 390 to 445 gms.

2. Automatic Revoluation counter.

NOTE : (Electronic counter with digital display can also be installed instead of revouation counter)
